Hubble Serves Up a Holiday Snow Angel Mashable: NASA and ESA’s Hubble Telescope sent home stunning pictures from the region S106 where a young star is forming. Astronomers say the images are colorful, but reflect a violent scene in outer space. NASA: This video zooms in on star-forming region Sh2-106, also known as S106. This is a compact star-forming region in the constellation Cygnus (the Swan). A newly formed star called S106 IR (also known as IRS 4) is shrouded in dust at the center of the image, and is responsible for the surrounding gas cloud’s hourglass-like shape and the turbulence visible within.
